1999 Sub Wiring help needed

I just purchased a set of used JL subs and an amp from a fellow member on the forums. He mentioned that installation is pretty basic. Easier with an aftermarket head unit though. However, I still have my stock head unit. Is it worth to upgrade to an aftermarket one? And is there any wiring diagram/instructions available for me to hook this up myself?

Thanks in advance.

i have never hooked up subs to a factory unit. if you buy an after market unit it is very simple. you will have two wires that go from your head unit to your amp: the RCA cable, and the remote wire. from your amp you will run a power wire to the battery, create a ground, and then hook the subs up to the amp.
