In other words, I don't want to have to run a new antenna if I don't have to. Is there an adapter or Sirius/XM receiver that goes with my Pioneer unit? I understand that I have to buy a sirius/xm unit because my radio is only Sirius ready.

So if there is an adapter, which one. And are there any recommendations for a good receiver that works flawlessly with my Pioneer unit. Thanks everyone!

My model radio is Pioneer AVHX8500BHS Double-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver With Bluetooth And HD Radio
I have the same unit. If I recall the am/fm antenna had a pigtail adapter that I used. You local shop will have one for a couple bucks.

The Sirius antenna in your jeep has a little plastic cover/connector on it that you have to snap off then it will fit your Pioneer HU.

Good unit. Not perfect, but that is more the fault of the new digital outputs on iphone 5. But does what I want.

Any one try this on a 2014 yet? Is it the same as the 2013s? I have a Sahara, had the misfortune of getting the Uconnect 130 without bluetooth. (arrgghhh)

I found a used Uconnect 130 s/res but the dealer is saying that it won't function because it doesn't match my VIN. ( Can this thing NOT be reprogrammed??? )

In any event I was considering the Pioneer, but its been a VERY long time since I fiddled with an in dash system and those were much simpler times!

Thanks for the input!

I have a few questions. I attempted to do stereo replace (Uconnect 130 w/ Sirius) with the Kenwood DDX470 with the add-on Sirius tuner. The wiring harness and steering wheel controls are from Axxess (ASWC-1 and XSVI-6522-NAV). I got everything wired up and I have a few quirks that are really annoying me.

1. I spent hours trying to customize the steering wheel controls and the volume up/down works, as does seek up/down. I am trying to get the preset up/down work. Has anyone been successful getting preset up/down to work?

2. One the back side of the steering wheel there are the up/down toggle buttons with the buttons in the middle. Has anyone gotten the middle buttons to work? They work, but are seek up/down as well.

3. On the dash, right below where the compass is displayed, it displays "80's on Eight" but appears to not be related to the aftermarket radio/sirius tuner. Is there a way to disable this or make it display correctly?

4. Has anyone been successful getting the phone and voice recognition steering wheel buttons to work? Currently Axxess set both to mute.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I did not attempt to customize the steering wheel controls but all buttons on the back of the steering wheel work as they did with the 130 uconnect. As for the uconnect and voice recognition buttons they only function as mute buttons for me. I installed the Alpine INE 920sd HU
As far as the dash read out you can change that through the EVIC controls to ECO mode.

Hope this helps. Oh and this was work done on a 2012jkus.

The weird steering wheel control settings and the EVIC display always displaying "80s on 8" was really driving me nuts. Pulled out the Axxess adapter and steering wheel controller and went with the PAC RP4-CH11. The results were night and day. EVIC now displays Radio On, Radio Off when appropriate and the default steering wheel control settings made sense.

If you are reading this and are planning on an install, I HIGHLY recommend you go with PAC.

I am looking at the same HU or the AVIC Z150. I thought you had to buy a Sirius Module to get Sirius on the HU. Are you saying you can just plug the OEM Sirius antenna into the HU and you will have Sirius?

You will need the Sirius module, but the factory antenna plugs into the module. I am pretty sure my module was free because I got a $50 rebate when I activated it. That was almost a year ago.

Hi I just bought a 2014 with the "premium alpine system" with the basic factory radio. Is it not possible to just use a wiring harness for the basic factory system ( without amp) and use a hu with three sets of preouts and splice the rca's into the harness as a low level input? I hope this makes sense. I have done this before with my previous vehicle and it worked out well im just not sure if there are any other accerosries wired into the factory harness. If im not mistaken there are only the four channels that go to the input of the factory amp. Also If I wanted to retain the steering controls I could just by that module.

How did you do that? My EVIC displays "RadioOff" constantly, and its just a bit annoying. I've tried pulling a couple of fuses, running the car at idle to see if the text disappears - and unsuccessfully

Did you connect the Blue wire? Antenna On Input, because I didn't.

Does anyone know whether or not the Alpine MRX-V70 Amp (10-5/8" W, 9-1/16" D, 2-5/16" H) will mount and fit where the factory amp normally sits? I really don't want to put it under the seats, and short RCA's are cheaper! lol

I have an MRX V-70 and I couldn't find a way to install it up there easily. I'm not saying you couldn't do it but it will be a royal PITA. I put mine on a bracket under the passenger seat so that it's off the floor.

I'll probably do the same. What kind of bracket?

There's a user on here called jeepedjeep who fabricates aluminium brackets which fit perfectly beneath the seats. Here's my set up using the bracket under the passenger seat:

Nice! I think I'll ask my local fab shop to whip up something similar. Thanks for the idea!

My original plan was to put together an acrylic tray of some sort to avoid rust, but aluminum might work just as well.

Have the same headunit, purchased the Sirius module and antenna separate. I did not try to reuse the factory Sirius antenna.

I installed my Avic Z150 the other day. The stock Sirius antenna would fit, but I felt it was not secure enough so I installed the one that came with the Sirius kit.

I have a new 2014 with the base radio. All it has is sirius and bluetooth. No amp. Can I just use the harness in the link below? Will I need something else? I already have the ASWC-1 module and sirius module. Is there another speaker harness or something? Maybe antenna adapter?

Here is the radio harness:

That Harness says its for a 2007-2010 JK, and not a 2014 JK. If you're planning on adding a amp, you'll likely need compatible speakers. The standard speakers are not high capacity speakers. You can check and see but in the past they have always been paper. I've never seen anything paper that could stand anything above 40-50watts. And if you have the bare bones sound system, your speakers are crap too. Sorry, but its true.

I know it says 2010, but I haven't seen anywhere that even lists 2014. Are the 2014 harnesses different? Also, I will never add an amp. I'm not into sound, this is mainly to have a dvd player for my daughter.

If it says 2007-2010, it is normally only for those years. Otherwise, it would say 2007- , meaning 2007 and up.

You didn't say, but I'm guessing that you are looking to put in an aftermarket radio?
Do you have steering controls for the stock radio?
You will likely also need an aftermarket connection module for the steering controls if you have them.

I would go to Crutchfield, hit the chat button at the top right, and chat with them about the proper harness for an aftermarket radio in a 2014 Wrangler. They should have it, if it is available.

Yeah, I'm putting in a pioneer double din. I already have the ASWC module for the steering controls from my precious install. I found a combo kit on eBay that offers the harness, dash kit, and antenna converter. I will also contact crutchfield.

Thanks bud.

Although the harness only lists compatability through a 2010, it should still work with a 14... I know that it works with 2013's, and I don't believe they changed much going into the 2014's. If there is a return policy for the one you're looking at, I would go ahead and pick it up. If it doesn't work for some reason, return it. The awsc module may not plug in to it, but you can always hardwire it.

If you're not looking for a huge audio upgrade, the factory speakers should be fine for you; they will be paper cone, but just be careful with how loud you play it and you shouldn't have any issues. The pioneer should put out around 15 watts rms per channel, so it'll be a bit more that the factory unit, but still within "safe" levels.
