2012 JK Stereo Question

Ok, I ordered a 2012 JK with Sirius. It didn't come with it. They are putting in an aftermarket stereo with it instead. My question is, do they make a wiring harness that will allow me to continue using the controls on the steering wheel???? If so..... where do I get it????

Wait, the dealership is putting in an aftermarket??? My Sport S arrives 4/9, ordered 2/29. A few days ago, I asked my dealer if they could order and install a 730N when the Jeep gets here and they said no problem, and they'd use the stereo with Sirius that I ordered with the Jeep as a trade-in credit.

No reason a dealer should use an aftermarket stereo. The "one up from baseline" stereo has Sirius, the dealer should be able to order and install it, AND use your baseline stereo as a partial trade-in credit!

But to answer your question, yes, you can check Crutchfield.com and order a wiring harness to make the steering controls work.

They told me they couldn't do it there. They are putting in a Sony. I wanted factory so it would be less likely to be stolen(maybe).

Awesome. That's what I wanted to hear.

I'm honestly shocked. If I was buying a Jeep from a real Jeep dealership, and they said they couldn't install a stereo, I'd run, not walk, away. Either they're lying, or they're incompetant/inept.

For your sake, I hope it's some other reason, and they give you a good quality Sony that you have great luck with! Crutchfield, like I said, has the harness you need, and installation instruction.

I asked 3 different people if the Jeep I had coming had Sirius and they said yes. It showed up........nope. Very cool about the wiring harness. Before this..... They drilled a hole in my dash and put a sirius receiver on my dash..... I asked him WTF are you thinking. Get me a stereo with sirius, in the dash, or you can take the Jeep back. I think their service department is full of morons to be honest.

There is a module to allow the use of steering wheel controls. It is about $100. Check out Crutchfield.com

They put a Kenwood KDC-448U in it. It also has the steering wheel hookup. Seems like a good stereo. Now to read and figure this thing out....lol

That's a decent unit, and you'll be able to match the lighting color to the instrument cluster! What's it costing you? Online I see an average price of $100.

Cost me nothing because they didn't deliver a factory unit with Sirius like I asked for.
