Depends on the height of your amp. You won't get a lot of clearance if the bracket sits at the same level as the front seat bolts.

Sorry i looked at the pic wrong. try this idea with the channel iron.

you could still drill a hole straight through one side, as well as a hole through one of the legs and get a pad lock through it. might have to do it in 2 spots, but it will lock it in place.

Congrats on the self install! How long did it take you from tearing it apart to putting it back together?

Any reason you didn't go with an amp fitting inside the dash?

Help!!

Re: the jvc receiver and the installation in a jeep... How did you get it to fit in the dash??

QUOTE=PhotoWrangler;3808598]I still can't believe I did this! I am truly proud of myself.

The audio store was going to charge me almost $400 for the 10" sub, and amp. After thinking about it, I decided that I was going to purchase the items needed, and install it myself. After it was all said and done, I spent about $685 and installed a new JVC head unit, a 10" Pioneer shallow mount sub, and a 400w amp, along with all the wiring harnesses and adapters etc. All in all, I saved nearly $500.

This is what I installed:

JVC KW-AV61BT, $285
Pioneer TS-WX251 10" downfire sub, $129
Pioneer GM-3500T 400w amp, $79
Sirius SVX200v1 tuner, $46
PAC RP4-CH11 wiring harness, $91
Boss 8g wiring kit, $11
Metra 40-EU10 FM antenna adapter, $10.68
Scosche CR129B dash kit, $9.98

All items were ordered from Amazon.com

I wanted something discreet, and the Pioneer sub fit the bill. With the back seat in you can barely see it, but when its on you can certainly hear it. I wouldn't recommend it for competition obviously, but for a nice rounded out deep and rich sound, its perfect. The amp is under the front seat, and I'll have to figure out some way to attach it, because right now its just under there.

I ran the power wire and the ground wire through the fire wall on the passenger side, and everything is connected to the battery. The remote switch for the amp is wired directly to the HU.

All of my SWC's work with the RP4 adapter after programming it, and the retained accessory power works as well.

OMG this system completely and totally blows the factory crap to pieces!!! It is SOOOO loud! And I haven't even upgraded the factory 6.5's yet, thats coming next month. I seriously cannot believe how good this sounds!!!

I've got a few things left to do, like secure the amp, and hide the rest of the speaker wire in the back, but man.... I still can't believe its in there, and every single piece of it is working in proper order. AND I DID IT MYSELF!!!!

Here is a short video, but I doubt you can tell what the audio quality is like. Man it sounds so good!!

I don't understand this question. What are you having a problem with?

There is a bracket behind the radio that held the OEM head unit. It needs to be removed. It is easy to unscrew and take out. No cutting necessary. My Double DIN DVD unit fits with room to spare and it is deep.

You need a double DIN mounting kit to attach the new head unit to the inner dashboard frame (Scosche and Metra make them, find them on Amazon for about twelve bucks), and as Matt says you need to remove the rectangular metal bracket that held the back of the factory unit in place (it's just a couple of 7mm screws).
