7 Speaker Setup Question

Hey all. My 04 LJ has the stock seven speaker setup, with the tweeter on the dash speakers. I'm going to upgrade my stereo, and wanted to know if due to the 7 speaker setup if I had to to go with a similar setup or can i go direct to 5.25's in the dash? Thanks!!

Im not super worried about having tweeters, I was just wondering if because thats the way its setup stock, thats the way I have to go, or will it be ok to just go with the 5.25s.

You could do just coax speakers but components will sound better.

It sounds to me like you are saying that one set of speakers is components(4speakers), one set is coaxial(2speakers), and a sub(1speaker), makes 7?

You are aware that the stereo speakers are made by Infinity aren't you?
What type of upgrade are you planning to do?

Infinity sucks plain and simple

Ya a set of coomponets in the dash coax in the pods and a sub makes 7. So going to a coax in the dash make it 5 you also lose a lot of the detail on the upper end with coax's in the dash.

I hated the 130 and stock infinitys that came with my 14 JKR, it was sad on a good day. I was given a Grand Cherokee with the 430 decked out system as a loaner until my lift and tires were installed. I wasnt impressed. I figured I could upgrade my system better. I started with a good Kenwood deck(bluetooth and USB a must). I added Rockford Fosgate components up front(bright but not overpowering) with Focal coax(excellent mids) in the soundbar. Running a JL amp for the front. I took the ported JL 12 and amp from my old TJ and added it to this system. I am VERY pleased with the sound in my Rubi now. LOL, no problems hearing it at highway speeds!

From what I'm seeing, you don't need to cut pieces out of the dash, with a 2004 Jeep, for the adapters to place in the 5.25 speakers. But, you may need to drill holes for the adapter. I recommend the CDT's. They are rated from 60-90watts RMS, and much better sounding than the Infinity Kappa's, and better handling capability than the similar (45RMS) Polks or Kappa's. At 90watts RMS you are ready for any sub/amp later. They are made in the U.S., in California.

Information about Vehicle modification for adapter in Jeep (1997-02) and (Jeep 2004)

"NOTE: All 1997-2002 5.25" speaker modifications(regardless of adapter manufacturer) require you cut metal inside your dash(2003-2006 do not require cutting)."
