Aftermarket radio-no reception

I'm having trouble getting reception in my aftermarket radio. I've tried two different models, same result. The guy at Best Buy who installed it claimed that the plug going into the deck doesn't go as far in, so that's why it doesn't get reception. The stock radio was fine. Anybody have any other ideas of what it might be? If I can't get it to work, I'll probably have to go back to the stock radio.
My jeep is a 2006 X, radio is just the stock single disc player.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

The stock antenna cable is barely long enough to make it to the extended antenna cable that comes out of the back of the radio. When I installed an aftermarket radio, the factory antenna cable wasn't long enough so I had to go buy a 12" extension. So what the Best Buy guy said makes sense though it makes no sense that whoever installed it wouldn't have noticed that and installed a short antenna cable extension between the new radio and OE antenna cable.

When you have a choice, buy American.

I agree, I had a radio in the usual spot and it got no reception and i ended up putting it in a center console lock box and i had to buy an extender. Cleared the reception right up too. I'd say just by an extender and see if it works.

Whe pulled the radio out a little bit, and the wire was plenty long, so I don't think that's the issue. I'll have them try an extender and see if that helps. They're gonna hate me at Best Buy, but I just want my radio to work!!

Pull the glove box out and look behind there. iirc there is another connector back there (going to the antanna). He might have pulled it appart trying to make it long enough.

I second that check behind the glove box., I had my heater core changed out and when they put the dash back in my radio reception sucked b/c they missed that connection

I third the check behind the glove box, I've installed dozens of radios in Wranglers and 90% came unpluged at the hookup behind there. If it doesn't work, you could pull out the antenna adaptor and switch it with an 18" antenna extender. the plug behind the glove box is a standard connection.

Get satellite radio.

Also keep in mind, aftermarket antenna plugs aren't always the same size as the OEM plugs on the back of a head unit. I know GM's are different sized, perhaps Mopar is too.

But check the wire all the way to the antenna as other suggested.
