you will need a mono(single channel) amp that is 400rms(or more, 500rms) @ 4 ohms. a class a/b will be fine, the class d can get a bit expensive. and a 4 gauge wire kit. you could get away with an 8 gauge kit.

okay, there is a big deal on crutchfield. I know crutchfield is over priced but you save 50% on a wiring kit and get a free Lightning Audio LDDC1 1-farad capacitor (20-volt surge) with digital display at Crutchfield.com when you buy a 299$ amp and a wiring kit.
but.... i keep hearing that capacitors are worthless...?
should i do this deal or look for one through local classifieds?

Ps what am i risking by underpowering my sub?

there is no way you will need a cap for running 400rms. if anything do the big three.

the big three is when you replace both ground cables from your battery with 0 gauge wire and replace the positive battery to alt cable also with a 0 gauge wire. it will be much cheaper and much better than cap.

So what would a class D do for me compared to A/B?
