Another question

I installed the stereo and its a detachable face. I take the top off from May to the end of september no mater what. I have a bikini top on it but the interior still gets a little wet. What I am looking for are ideas for water proof amps/boxes/speakers or anything else you can think of. I am thinking of covering the emty face plate of the stereo with a marine audio cover (if i can find one)
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If you stick with poly (polypropylene) speaker cones, they will do fine if they get wet. It's paper cone speakers that don't do well in wet conditions. No problem finding poly speakers though, they're common and easily found at pretty much any store that sells automotive speakers. That the stereo gets a little wet won't usually permanently harm it, fresh water doesn't often cause permanent damage to modern 12 volt equipment.

But boating catalogs carry plastic splash-proof enclosures for DIN-sized radios which have a lid on them which would keep the water out.

When you have a choice, buy American.

Jerry, the cones might be fine but the foam on the sides wont be. I would suggest you look straight for marine products.

amp boxes.. you can make a custom and paint the wood so it doesnt soak up water. I would recommend you do not put carpet on there since it will rot. Again seal it up, paint it and be happy. Sub.. above...

as the amp.. no help there bud, they need lots of air flow since they heat like an oven so you cant seal those up, best bet is to look for a marine one.

thanks for the responses

Yea I was thinking marine for the most part. I was thinking of installing the amp under one of the seats and mounting it to a 1/2 plexiglass. then "isulate; the sides, not right on them but the outsides of the seats with 3 inches of plexiglass hanging down. Might owrk, good ventilation and a tone of breathing room. If I go marine i wont be as concerned. Pyle has some relaly nice 6x9 water proof marine boxes that sound pretty good with a tiny little amp pushing them
