Anyone Running a Midland 75-822 Handheld

Does anyone have serious issues on the trail using the rubber handheld antenna inside the cab with a hard top? Just talking with the jeeps in your group. I know I'm loosing some signal, probably due to the outside signals getting grounded out. I seem to get a good solid signal when it's close. Just wondering, it's new and I got it so I don't have to permanently install one in the Jeep. And I can carry it for spotting. (keeps the driver from hanging their head out the window)

You are losing signal because that's a very small antenna. Attaching a mounted antenna will help. Good radio for a spotter to use.

This. But should still work fine for Jeep to Jeep on a trail run. I have mine run to a 4' firefly in back.
