anyone tried the Sony CDX-270mp

I'm looking for a cheap upgrade for my stock single CD stereo on my 05 tj. Mainly to get an aux port and a little better sound. Also my CD doesn't work. Quadratech has this unit for $59.99 ($109.99 with install kit). Wondering it fits exactly in place and if it has decent sound.

I would say NO to this HU. If you are going to "upgrade", and cost is a consideration, I would say, spend $40 dollars more, and get all the bells and whistles. This being Bluetooth, USB, AUX, CD, remote control, and a removable face. It is more bang for your buck, and you won't be longing for the other options later.

Yeah good point. But I 'm not sure how good Bluetooth would work with how much interior noise there is and probably useless with the top down but I see there's an external mic. Not sure where I would mount that. Also that system only has 13 watts/channel. The lower line Sony systems have 50 watts/channel and are supposed to have good sound quality. I agree I will check on systems with more options.
Thanks

I have bluetooth on my Jeep and it works great. The little hole on the unit is the mic and it sort of works like speaker mode on your cell phone. The Sony has 17watts, and that's not much different than 13watts. The 50 watts is basically the loudness button, which turns on an internal amp, and adds a whole lot of distortion. Basically, it just blows out speakers. The Jensen is 40watts max, again not much difference. Anywhere near the max, and you can blow speakers less than that capacity because of the distortion that the loudness button adds to the nominal volume THD.
