Attempt to tune antenna more?

I recently installed a Uniden CB in my Jeep with a 4' firestik antenna mounted to the spare tire stop. I tested the SWR and adjusted the antenna tip all the way down (can't go further) and my readings are as follows:

CH1 - 1.1 to 1
CH20 - 1.2 to 1
CH 36 - 2.0 to 1
CH 40 - 2.6 to 1

I understand that I want 2.0 to 1 or less, but that means CH36 or less for my current set-up.

Would you guys recommend trying to shorten the antenna more somehow? Or just leave it as is and use the lower channels?

Thanks.

Personally, Channel 19 is the biggest concern on the road. Off the road, I doubt you're going to really find that many people talking on channels below 20 that you'd even need the upper half. I wouldn't sweat it personally. Especially because I'm not a big fan of having to cut an antenna, because you can't uncut it.

In case anyone else has this issue, I found a fix that I haven't tried yet, but I've been told will work. I have a 48" firestik antenna and I turned the adjustable tip all the way down. It still needs to be shorter. I called the company and was told to take the tip off, remove the lock nut, and put the tip further down. If that doesn't work, take the tip off. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Update - I didn't actually have to remove the lock-nut. There was a small rubber grommet that I removed from the antenna which allowed the adjustable tip to screw down just far enough to tune the SWR to 1 to 1.5 on CH 1 & 40 and 1 to 1 on CH 20.

Generally I use ch. 19 when traveling by myself, or if in a group we'll pick a channel to start out like 12 or 25, something random, and use that till we come across interference, then move to a different channel.

...this is good to know.

...i just took delivery of the 'cooltech ultramount kit' with the 48" firestick firefly and as soon as it warms up i'll be tackling the install and the 'swr' fun.
