Bazooka Help

I just got my first Jeep. It's a 2001 TJ Sahara and I love it so far but I'm looking to add a little bass to upgrade the factory sound system. I've read a lot about these Bazooka bass tubes and am strongly considering getting a 6100. Would anyone recommend? Also, can someone explain to me how to hook it up, and can it be hooked up to the stock head unit? Any advice will help, thanks.

never been a big fan of the bass tubes. they never do a whole lot..but i guess all depends on how much bass you want. one thing to keep in mind w/ jeeps w/ a soft top and/or it off bass will travel it will never sound as good as a normal vehicle. bc there isnt much for bass to reflect off of.

with that said you can add anything like that to a factory radio. generaly they hook up like a normal aftermarket amp. power to battery, ground short as you can to a clean unpainted surface (try to use a nice factory bolt location). the areas where it changes is you will probably need a line level converter to change speaker wires to rca's. make sure the speaker wires you tap into are either full range or from factory sub. if you have tweeters and tap them you will have 0 bass since they are alrdy crossed over. then the last wire is remote turn on. normaly best to tap into ign wire, that way amp shuts off when ign is off...

down side is sometimes since amp doesnt shut off w/ radio some have been known to make thumping noise if radio is off...but most ppl i know when vehicle is on so is radio.

hope it helps some

If your gonna do the bass tube route get a Rockford Fosgate, I used to have a 10 inch one and it hit hard! Or you can buy the custom boxes they sell or build one for your jeep. I just got this box along with 2 10 inch Rockford subs, love it! Also if you want your sub to sound good go ahead and replace the head unit factory units are junk...Custom Dual 10" Wrangler Enclosure Box

i'm not a big fan of the "powered subs" like the bazooka tube, i've owned a few and they are far out priced for the end result. if you want something you can here when your driving down the highway you are going to need more than 100watt rms sub.

if you want a good tight sub the SSA subs sound great.

this is a 10" that puts out what is needed.

and this is a 12" that puts out a bit more and be able to handle a lot of the lower frequency's

what you might want to do is start saving up and do everything at once, don't go waisting money on something your are going to end up wanting to replace a few months down the road. so get your tires and what not and than start to deal with the sound system.

if you want you can get a headunit to start, something that has everything you need with it, ie ipod, rca outputs aux inputs and what ever else you feel that you will need when you go and get the rest of the stuff.

10" infinity basslink. it will run you about 200 + cables, and is absolutely fantastic. It can still be heard nice and clear with the top of doing 75. Check out my jeep profile for pictures. I did a write up on it here, too. Just search for basslink.
