Hey, I'm wondering this too - Looking to spend around $100 - $120... Is it reasonable to expect something of good quality at this price?

Edit: (Would rather spend under $100...)

I've been running this radio since '05. I've really like it.

"Xtreme Value complete CB combo from Quadratec"

This combo includes everything you need for $130. CB, antenna, mounts for both, and the cable. The price and compact size of the cb sold me. I just installed it yesterday, what a breeze.

The radio can be purchased for just $50 if that is all you need.

From Quadratec's website

CB can be bought separately or with kit:

Hope this helps!

Hi, im interested in this combo from Quadratec. How did you run coax cable from passenger side bracket to the antenna?

Thanks

After running it through the tailgate and around the subwoofer, it simply runs underneath the carpet right up to the console. I just tucked it up under the console for a clean look. You can see it just to the left side of the bracket in the second photo.

Got ya. Thanks.

Also, for $130 it doesn't come with passenger side cb mount - it's $40 extra for mount. Did you also have to buy swr meter for tuning the radio? And did you run power straight to the battery?

I've had my Uniden Pro 510xl since Nov 24 2012 and it's worked quite well. Everyone comes in loud and clear on the trail and I haven't had to change my inline fuse yet. I'm sure there are much nicer cbs out there but
for 45 bucks you can't go wrong.

Mounted mine on my overhead console.

Ask around to see if you can borrow a meter form someone or have someone help you tune the antanna. It's a one time setup. If you can't find one then buy the meter.

Straight battery power is best. If you want hang a relay in the circuit that activates when ingition is on if you are worried about leaving the radio on and draining the battery. Another option would be a switch with a pilot light as a reminder. I think thats better as you can use the radio when the Jeep is shut down.

But straight to battery, fused as close to battery as possible. The power distribution center on the right fender has a large stud in the rear where it gets battery power. Thats the easiest connection.

I guess I didn't remember buying the mount separately, but that is what drew me to this system. No, I had access to an SWR meter and I did run it straight to the battery. Easily done through the "styrofoam" filled hole on the passenger side of the dash between the dash edge and door molding. Just wrapped the wire around a coat hangar and lightly punched it through. And the power wire is pretty easy to tuck between, around, or through the moldings/openings.

I just installed a uniden pro520xl and 4ft Firestik II. I started a thread
To show this install but don't know how to link it on the app. Just search "cb and antenna install".

I've had the Uniden 510xl since 1998. It's been in every vehicle I've ever owned. Still going strong. It'll be going in it's 4th Jeep when I pick it up the YJ on Monday. They're discontinued, but you can still get them brand new thru ebay or amazon.

As for them draining the battery, I wouldn't worry. They draw minimal power on RX. Hell they draw minimal power on TX with a good load. I left mine on in the truck for 3 weeks while it was parked at the airport. Truck busted right off like it wasn't even there.

Radio Shacks carry them, but my local one said they discontinue them. I went to fry's electronics and picked up one for $20.00. But it didn't have jumping cable that i had to purchase separate for extra $5.00. Some CB radios come with SWR meters installed inside.

Or you can one from Amazon for $20.00 including jumping cable, as long as want to wait. I couldn't
