Best security option for hew head unit?

Like any other vehicle I've ever had, I want to install a new head unit in my new Jeep. Security hasn't been in issue in the past, as the alarm took care of that.

This is my first jeep so I'm curious what the best option is to ensure that no one is tempted to try to steal my stereo when I leave the top down. I'm considering going w/ one that has a removable face plate (if they still have those) or maybe one w/ a faceplace the flips around (again, if they even still make those).

Any suggestions?

thanks

Something else I forgot to add....

I have stereo controls on my steering wheel...is there a way to keep this functionality when I upgrade the head unit?

Check out Crutchfield.com and it will tell you what you need. Yes they make detachable face still. On the JK you need one of these PAC Chrysler Radio Replacement Interface Allows aftermarket radio installation in select 2004-up Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles (model C2R-CHY4) at Crutchfield.com so you don't lose your chime and other factory related stuff. And for the steering wheel controls you will need Car Selector which is specific to the brand of deck you will be buying.

Find out what you want and google the model numbers. You will find places that sell the stuff for less, but Crutchfields service sometimes makes up for the additional cost.

Thanks Goose.

I've been looking at Crutchfield. I usually shop through them since, as you mentioned, their customer service is great.

I have an aftermarket headunit that detaches but I never do it. Don't see the real need, and yes I live in a pretty bad area.
The crime rate in my city is .1% below chicagos

^ choose paramedic, nothing better than knowing you have saved someone's life, been a medic for 5 years.

back to the topic, all you need is a unit with a removable face plate, no one is going to steal a radio that has no face plate. if i have the top down i always lock the faceplate in the glove box

i messed up my back while taking my physical part of my fire test on the last part of the test, in my area you need to have an emt certification to be a firefighter, im not a paramedic yet just an emt, start classes in a few months for my paramedic cert.
