Thumbs up BlueTooth Is Finally Completed

Finally,
after 6 long A$$ weeks I was able to get my cast off and start my BlueTooth Adapter installation.
As for the install, it all went smooth.
I was able to mount the BlueTooth Unit in the Glove Box with the HDD and Phone.
I also was really lucky finding hiding places for wires on this,
so everything looks pretty clean.

You might not be able to tell from the pics,
but there is actually still quite a bit of room in the Glove Box.
Both units are mounted flush on the bottom and back surfaces.
Each are only .5" thick, so that helps.
I'm surprised how much was able to be mounted in that tiny Glove Box,
and be tucked away behind it.
Now that it's all done,
there is BlueTooth, an HDD, and Cell Phone in the Glove Box.
Behind the Glove Box,
there is an extra 12v power source that has a 3-way splitter,
with GPS and Cell Phone Chargers,
and one spare USB power source.
Not to bad for that tiny of a space.

Looks great but good luck with trying to have a conversation on it unless you are parked. I had mine setup and even with full hard doors and hard top people could barely understand me while driving.

That's not good to hear.
Did you have the mic mounted in the same place?
Did you have the same system?

Tried it out last night.
Made a couple calls while driving around town, no one has complained yet.
What system are you using?

I'm actually really liking this thing.
I can cruise around blasting my tunes,
and when a call comes in, it automatically lowers the volume and switches over to take the call.
When the call ends, it starts the music at the point that it left off, and at the volume it was previously at.
If a call comes in, and the stereo isn't even on, it will still turn it on automatically, and let me get the call.
It also has call waiting/rejecting features, phone book transfer, and some other bells and whistles that I haven't played with yet.
In my opinion, it was worth the money.
Especially for safety reasons.
Every one of us has had at least one close call due to being on the phone, or someone else being on their phone while driving.

I realize that it's gonna be completely useless when the top is off.
But if the top is off, I wouldn't even attempt to answer my regular phone.
#1. You're not gonna be able to hear much anyways, and vise versa.
#2. If your top and doors are off and you drop your phone, kiss it goodbye.

I just have one of the nicer Clarion headunits with bluetooth and mic ect. I have my mic located in the same location and it doesnt matter at all. I could hear then great through all my speakers but they however were not as pleased on their end.

How do you make a call? Is it voice activated, and voice recognition? Do you just have to say the persons name or call out the #'s? Is it always on standby when the key is on?

Maybe just the brand, i dunno.
I'm still asking people if im clear, and they say just as clear when I'm on my regular cell. Are you trying to make calls with your windows down?
If you do that, sure they're gonna hear wind noise.
I was cruising at 65mph today with the windows up and the air on notch 2 (wich is kinda noisy in my rig), and the person I was talking to didn't hear that, or the engine at over 2K rpm.

You can do it either way Dave.
But it all depends on if you have vioce recog. on your cell phone.
If you do, yes...if you don't, then no.
You just send all your contacts info to the unit.
Once that is done, you can either scroll to find the person you want to call, search by alphabetical, or use voice recog.

Also:
When you transfer your contacts, it logs them in the same manner as your cell phone does, so you get all the numbers for each contact.
(i.e. cell,home,work,pager)

And yes,
it's on stand by all the time. (key or not)
When installing, it has you wire it to an "always on" source.
Why, I'm not too sure. Because it doesn't sync with your phone until you turn the key back, forward, or start your Jeep.
I'm guessing, it's wired that way for some type of memory purpose, but I don't really know yet. I'm thinking of calling Pioneer and asking them.
