Can I Modify The After Market Sub In My TJ?

Hello.

I have a subwoofer enclosure with a 10" JBL sub behind the rear seat.
It sounds good but its not loud enough.

Today I tried my GFs sub in my TJ.
It is a self made bass reflex enclosure with a no name 12" sub.
And its so much louder..

Can I make the hole in my enclosure bigger for a 12" sub?
Does that work?

Or should I better build a new (bass reflex) enclosure?

Thanks for your help.

It depends on the specifications for the 12" you're going to put in there. If there is enough internal volume then it would be fine.

If it's a pretty good sub I'd suggest having a ported box designed for the t/s parameters of said sub. It's amazing sometimes to compare a pre-fab sealed enclosure to a sub specific designed ported enclosure.
