can I paint my Firestik?

I want to paint my bright red Firestik antenna black. I have some Krylon Fusion that I thought would be good to use on the plastic coating. Will a thin coat of paint on it affect the performance? I wouldn't think it would matter, but just thought I'd throw it out here and see what you guys think.

For the trouble you could sell that one and buy a black one. IMO.

Go to their web site and order some black shrink tubing. I built 440 antenna and used it, great stuff and pretty cheap.

Thanks for the replys. I painted it yesterday and it looks good. I guess I'll have to see how it holds up, but it'll be easy enough to touch it up if it needs it.
The heat shrink sounds like a good idea too.

as long as the paint has no metallic flakes in it, you should be ok, just don't paint under the cap
