| Can I put stock Infinity Speakers on my Stock Non-Infinity RES stereo?
Looking to upgrade my speaks, and to avoid issues with dimensions I am thinking of buying the stock Infitity speakers that you get with the upgraded audio.
My question is whether this would work with my stock RES radio, or if it's not worth it because without the amp it won't help much.
Thanks a lot guys, appreciate it. |

You'll definitely need an Amp, if you want decent sound. Otherwise, you may not be able to tell any difference in the sound with the Infinity's. The Stock Speakers for the RES Radio are sCrap. Believe me, I've seen them up close and personal.
I have the Stock RES Radio, with the Single CD Player. I usually just listen to my iPod through the Aux Jack on the front faceplate.
For a GREAT sounding system with the RES Radio, and no Sub-Woofer-Needed, check out my Signature box with my Sound Upgrades!
Best of Luck!
Cheers!

(Arggggg)
Thanks for your reply. I'm not really concerned about a beast of a system but just a good range of tones, the volume is not a concern.
I got a good deal on the stock Infitity 4 speakers and 2 tweeters (stock for the infinity upgrade), so would that quench my initial thirst for "sounds rage" until I can tackle the true sounds later with an amp?
Thanks for the help cap'ain. |

Give 'em a try and see how you like 'em. They'll surely sound better than the Stock Speakers, as soon as you turn the Power on.
You may not get the range you're looking for without the Amp, but it may surprise you, and be exactly where you want them.
Use Pages 20-23 on this link to help you with the install. For the Tweeters, just use a small knife, and pry the covers off of the Tweeter "Tombstones" on the dash. They should just pop right off. Swap out your Speakers and enjoy! Wrangler Spe.../font>
Best of Luck!

I didn't want to use up my limited Cargo Space in the back either, so I had it installed under the Driver's Seat.
It's not bolted down, but is sitting on top of a Small Rubber Square Floormat, with Raised Ribs, to keep it directly off of the floor. The Raised Ribs will allow any water to flow underneath the Amp, instead of into it, should I find myself stuck in a surprise downpour. Also, I can move the Amp over, and easily get to the Drain Plug underneath the Seat.
Hope this helps!
Cheers!

This thread has actually been pretty helpful. Upgrading my speakers is on my list of things to do for my jeep. I'd like to get a new radio unit, pref that has the ipod software so that you can plug in your Ipod and scroll through the songs via the radio instead of having to pick up the ipod with the cable coming out of it and search thru your songs. id rather just have the radio access the ipod.
Looked at those speakers the Alpine SPR-17S and C. Looks pretty schnazzy. Wondered about what to do with the amp as well. Coworker of mine with a JK similar to mine mounted his amp in the back trunk space, although his amp is probably the size of a book...depending on what size mine turns out to be, I might go with the under the driver's seat idea as well.
Blackbeard. How much $ overall would you say it costed you to redo just the speakers and add the amp? I know the radio unit im looking at is probably in the 400-750$ range...Just trying to figure out how much my pocketbook is going to be obliterated by haha.
