Not all that savy when it comes to electronics. I have a COBRA CB radio that I plan to install, but everything I've read indicates the antenna install is the most important part. I came across a new Olympic 4x4 product that allows mounting up to 4 rear lights or antennas.
The antenna has 2 grounds. One for eletrical and the other is a reference ground. meaning when you key the mic the antenna uses the metal that is grounded to to reflect the signal. The best place to get best reception is to mount the antenn on top of a metal roof. Since we don't have one best to place it to something metal that attaches to the frame. Example being a rear bumper, rear tire carrier that connects to the frame or the body. There are rear tail gate doesn't ground to the body/frame very well.
Yeah...that was what I was concerned about...rear tail gate might not provide the ground I need... Just liked the set-up and ability to mount lights at wide angles (blind spots) when night driving. Thanks for the feedback.
