CB Install Help!

HELP!

For the life of me, I cannot pop the passenger side vent out on my 2012 JKU to access the hole to run the CB power wire through to the battery. Does it need to be rotated into a specific position before pulling or is it suppose to just snap out? I dislike forcing things without knowing for sure. Any suggestions will be most appreciated.

Okay, others have already provided me with a solution. You do not have to take the vent out to push the side panel off. Thanks to everyone for the consensus on how to do it. I tried popping off the side panel with a small screw driver and it came off smooth as butter.

By the way, if you're curious where I saw that you had to take the vent out, check out this link for a photo essay on all the steps:

I was able to vet mine off with my pocket knife then ran wires through the firs wall up to my Cb. I made a overhead console that mounts to the footman loop and above the sound bar. Works great and virtually zero vision blockage

At the 4:40 minute mark he shows a mic connector installed just below the glove box door on the dash. Does anyone know where one of those can be purchased?

That is the connector for the hand mic, which also houses the controls, for a Cobra 75. https://www.cobra.com/detail/75-wx-s...aa-weather.cfm

speaker hook up?

I have a Uniden 510 mounted on the side console. i like it and i like it located there (out of sight, out of mind). This is the issue....sometimes my leg muffles the speaker. I would like to wire the cb to the overhead speakers so when i have the stereo on i hear music, but when I 4 wheel (always with the stereo off) and the cb on I can hear the cb through the speakers. Is this possible?

I thought of this as well and asked my brother-in-law about it. He owns a car stereo sales and installation business and highly advised against hooking the CB output into your audio sound system, other than using the aux. input. The problem with that is that you will only get CB, no radio.

Sorry, gotta have both. I really don't want to mount another speaker up high if I can help it.

I would prefer that too, but I'm not ready to damage either my radio or CB, or both!

Do you have room to mount an extra speaker in your overhead speaker bar? That would be the best way.

Now I'm not familiar with the newer Jeep radios ... But i had a focus i did exactly what was trying to be achieved here....My understanding of the post was that seti1x always had the radio off, correct? Why couldn't he use the aux? Wouldn't the radio have an aux input setting? Shouldn't be any different than plugging in am mp3 player... radio/cd/sat when you want it aux when you only want cb?

He can use the aux. plug. When you do that, you can't listen to the radio without unplugging the aux plug. Set1x wants to be able to listen to both at the same time by skipping the plug and wiring into the speakers and not have to unplug the CB.

Wow ralph! Thanks for this awesome idea. I use an aux for my music player but I never thought about it for my CB. (duh me). Thanks!!

seems he does not want to listen to the music and cb at the same time? when you plug in the aux on a jeep it auto senses and switches? i installed car stereo/mobile electronics for years and never had any radio "auto select" the aux when it was plugged in, and also never seen an aux imput that would allow you to NOT use anything else while it was plugged in...
