CB issue

Ok, I have a Uniden pc68xl cb mounted in a Tuffy overhead console. The power is ran straight to the battery for clean power and grounded to the tub. I also have a 36" firestik antenna mounted on a body armor swing away tire carrier.
I hooked up a SWR meter and found zero power going to antenna; which was odd since I can talk on the trail but I guess I was transmitting with no antenna.
I went and bought a 20' cable from radio shack and routed it through the oh console across the sound bar to the passenger side, down (and wrapped around) the roll bar under the pad and through what was the third brake light hole (which I expanded) to the tire swing and antenna.
Now I read power but...my SWR is pegged all the way off the charts.
Any problems with this set up that could be causing it? Ideas on how to correct it?
Any help would be appreciated...thanks.

Just about everything you wanted to know about CBs:

Sounds like you need to ground your antenna.

Thanks, that site is great and problem resolved. Ground to the tire swing to ground the mount plate. Problem solved!
