I moved this to "communications and electronics". You'll get a broader audience and someone will answer your question.

Welcome to the forum!

well that all depends.....

just for talking down the highway, and on a trail ??

a few cheap radios will work for you.

if you want more than that, then you need to start investing a few bucks.

there is no need for drilling holes either. there are a few cb antenna brackets out there made just for us. no drilling!

give me a few and i will see if i can find you a link and or pic

ok as far as antenna mounts go... here is my favorite:

CB Antenna Mount-Right hand | TeraFlex Suspensions

and for an actual radio, if you want an absolute no frills, small, simple radio, check out the Cobra 75 WXST. or if you want something small that is still like an actual cb radio, not just a hand held unit, try either a Cobra 19 , or some of the smaller midland radios.

there are lots of small radios out there.

it only goes up from there. got any questions about it , give me a holler.

In my opinion your shooting yourself in the foot with a Cobra. For a little more money, you could get a Galaxy, and it'll last forever. You don't have to dump alot of money into them,if any at all, but if you want to, it only makes 'em better

disagree.

there are nothing wrong with some cobra radios.

i do like galaxy's more than cobra, but it all depends. some people cant seem to justify spending a lot of money on a good cb. most just want/need it to be small, cheap, and to get out a mile or two on the trail.

people like me want more than that. we want a nice radio that sounds great, and will get out maybe a dozen miles. people like me look into getting an export radio that is set up to use on cb.

there are some negatives to this as i have learned the hard way. i had a galaxy 44v in my jeep last spring for easter jeep safari. i killed the thing. too much vibrations. those bigger radios have bigger boards and are easier to get cracks in em.

smaller radios are less prone to that. my suggestion is if you wanted a better than bad radio that will hold up is to get a cobra 25 or even a cobra 29.

Best bang for buck and small size for mounting is the Uniden PRO510XL.
