That Cobra 19 has been around a very long time and for good reason! My first CB was a 23 channel 19 I bought back in 1974!

I think you'll be happy with it! For the most part you'll be with others who are close enough to see so it will do nicely. Price isn't at all bad with antenna and coax.

With that kit, you still need to buy an antenna mount. I think the description is incorrect also, Cobra 19DX does not receive weather channels, and CB's don't have memory channels. Too expensive.

Same radio with a mag-mount antenna. $60

Cool Tech LLC. JK Gatemount CB Antenna System

I just bought a Midland 75-822 for use in and around my Jeep.
This is the direction I'm going with an external antenna:
I'd like to use a shorter antenna that has as little exposure over the roof-line as possible to avoid hitting branches in the woods.

A short antenna without much exposure is done with the understanding that it's all basically intended for short range communications in the woods.
If I get decent performance on the highway I'll call it a bonus, but it isn't expected.

I'm a ham operator so I'd like to set up a 2 meter/440 dual band antenna on the other side, using the same antenna mounting system, but I haven't been active lately so that's kind of up in the air at the moment.

Another ham checking in... Here is the thread to my Icom 7000 install with dual antennas. I used the windshield mounts from Arizona Rocky Road and couldn't be happier. It was also very easy to get the coax and antenna controller cables in the Jeep with these mounts.
