I have a nice pioneer head unit that I love so I might go with the pioneers just because of that but do any of you guys have any experience with these speakers in the roll bars? Im getting them this week and in a few weeks putting in a small amp and sub.

I'll elaborate later, kinda hard to type with a PS3 controller, lost a whole paragraph on the Sub Box thread about the theory of cabin gain.

personally i hate 3-way speakers. more to go wrong for not a big difference in sound plus in some cases harder to install since tweeters need to be further away from cone.
as for what sounds better....what do you like? have you listened to them? it's all up to you. i tell people that come into my shop, listen and get what you like. we're not in your vehicle so doesnt matter what i think.
go with a namebrand. bang for the buck Memphis is nice. you can get their PR speakers for about $100 or less/pair. but they have a metal dome tweeter so maybe a but "harsh" for some. JL Audio makes some great speakers in different power/tweeter combos. but down side is they are $$$$$ well worth the money but still $$$$
personally i kept my jeeps speakers about $100 or less / pair since i drive in rain w/o top and mud run some.. so that way if i need to replace it's not a ton of money. bc all speakers will get damaged/rust from water etc.
