Cigarette lighter

2002 Wrangler X. I'm trying to replace my cigarette lighter as it is working sporadically. I cannot separate the lighter from the bezel or the blue plastic piece. Any advice?

Good photos, looks like rust back in there, if you could scrape some of the rust off, it might work better. Don't have a TJ myself so I'm not much more help than that. Good luck!

it might be a loose connection at the harness that plugs into the lighter

There is a tool to remove that. There is 2 tabs in the lighter socket that the tool pushes in and you slide the socket out. You could try using 2 90 degree picks to push the tabs in while pushing on the light socket towards you.

Thanks everyone!
I tried scraping it out with a screwdriver but wasn't working to well so I'm going to try a wire brush maybe. I'll test the connectors too and see if I can find the release tabs for the blue piece.
