Cobra 75 cb

Who's running one and do you like it? Love that you can virtually hide everything. Also for those running a pa speaker with cb's is the cb sufficient by itself to power most common speakers? I'm not trying to have the whole city hear me, just others closeby on trail rides. Thanks.

I have a mini external speaker connected to mine and it works great. I didn't know it had a PA function. Public address is not the same as an external speaker connection.

Yes, I already have a mini speaker by cobra ordered that's going in the cabin so I can hear better in cb mode, I just want to have a PA speaker under the hood to be able to communicate with jeeps/people around me on the trails that might not have cb's.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think the 75 has a PA function. But I like mine, its great for the small cabins in a jeep. I don't have an external speaker and have never had an issue with sound. It always seems plenty loud and clear to me.

The 74 does not have a PA function, unless they added one in the last couple of years. I've got one and like it. I mounted it behind the glove box. I like that it is hidden and out of the way. Easy enough to unhook the hand controls and stow them, so it is out of the way when not in use.

The 75 does not have a PA function, they do or used to make a 76 which did, but it had this horrible blue translucent case on it instead of the 75's basic black. I like my 75 mostly because a friend gave it to me after selling his Jeep.

I'll be replacing my Cobra 75 in the near future. I like the compact design, but as I've discovered, I don't care for hand held controls. It's such a simple operating design that it should be the ideal radio but for me, I don't get to adjust the RF gain, or MIC gain, no noise blanker and no ANL. I find myself constantly adjusting volume and squelch to hear the trail leader if I'm on the tail, or the tailgunner if I'm out front.

Sounds like this isn't going to be the one for me. Between a compact cobra/uniden box cb or a full din uniden bearcat which would you guys recommend?

Uniden 520XL is a popular CB. This unit does have a PA.
