Color Wiring Code for YJ stereo

Hi out there. I'm replacing my 1992 YJ's factory original stereo with an aftermarket Sony. Nothing fancy. Just want to play CDs and iPod. However, even with a harness adaptor none of the wire colors match up. Maybe I was sold the wrong adaptor.

Regardless, I'm looking for an accurate color code or diagram of what the factory wires go to.
Such as:

Color = hot constant
Color = hot w/ accessory on
Color = rt. front spkr (+)
Color = rt. front spkr (-)

What I've found on-line so far has been incorrect. With the right colors I can figure it out the rest of the way and crank up my old Stones CDs. Thanks for reading this!

YJs are tough I have seen several different colors used. Get a test light or a voltmeter. That is your best bet.

And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote.

your aftermarket harness should look like this

it's the old jeep/eagle harness if a shop sold you a chry harness (has 2 plugs) its not correct.

the above picture is what i used on my 95. and colors from that to a new radio match color for color.

like stated above if harness has been cut then get a multimeter and test wires.

if all else fails 9 of the 11 wires for a radio to work are easy. front & rear speakers could always just run new wires.. ground take to good unpainted surface. as for constant & ign. you can get both from main harness close to steering wheel.

Thanks guys. My harness adaptor looks like the one you pictured Jaydogg25, just the colors don't match up with anything. I'll use the advice to find the constant and ignition and then screw around with the speakers until it works. Appreciate it!
