cool CB mounts

Looking for cool places to mount my CB. Ive seen some on the windshield rail up top above the rear view mirror, anyone have any bracket ideas or know where to get them?

Measured flat piece of metal, bent in two places, drilled holes, screwed into the plastic above the windshield. Two Velcro squares added to the top rear corners of the unit to attach to the plastic piece for an extra anchor point, reducing vibration when going over rough stuff.

Here's what it looks like from a seated position in the driver's seat: almost zero visibility footprint except for that little sliver above the rearview mirror.

Thanks. This one is the Cobra 29 LX LE 50th Anniversary Edition, I think the newer 29 LX that's on the website has one or two improvements. The only other difference is the anniversary badging on mine.

I paid $159 on Amazon for the Anniversary Edition, but you can get the LX now for under $100: Amazon.com: Cobra 29 LX 40-Channel CB Radio with Instant Access 10 NOAA Weather Stations and Selectable 4 Color Display: Electronics

Think about that mounting and getting into an accident. You have a 2 pound hunk with sharp corners at head heigth. Velcro don't hold, and you are screwed into plastic.

If you want to mount it there make sure it's solid.

Removed the existing bolt on passenger side and threw the CB there.
HAM main unit went in center console and head on mount by stereo.

Maybe a bit spendy, but I'm a huge fan of the look as well as the added security.

JK Single Compartment

Or, for the TJ and older,

TJ and Older Double Compartment

I plan on picking one up soon myself.

In my YJ, I mounted my CB by my knee where the ashtray would be. The mount for the ashtray was recessed enough so the cb was mor or less flush with the bottom of the dash and it also gave me holes for the mounting screws. Win-Win.

Screwed in and fastened from the rear. Velcro isn't meant to hold it, just to keep it from swinging vertically since there is only the one hole on each side. It's solid, I can pull on it and it won't go anywhere.

That was going to be my option as well, but I felt like it took too much open air away.

took a look at it, i dont really need the locking box, but i like the style, reminds me of my old patrol tahoe. Only thing i can see being an issue is my sound bar being in the way. But im sure i could figure something out to get around that.

Thanks man, It's an old Tuffy Console I modified to make it taller and to have more storage spaces.

The install is not quite done, but here's where I put my Cobra 18. My leg dose not hit the radio and it's easy to reach. It's in my '01 TJ.

heres mine. a guy in his garage with a TJ fab a couple overhead mounts withs some simply wing nuts and threaded J hooks. it hooks on to the font loop right above the rearview mirror inbtween the sun visors and just rests on the rollball in the back and zip ties down. this isnt a very good pic but if u want more i can go take them.

Posted this up on my local forum... Cost me about 20 bucks total, and I've got enough materials left over to make several:

Overhead CB / accessory mounting platform
