Cord I don't recognize. Possible antenna adapter?

Hey guys,I just bought my first jeep, an 04 X. It came with this cord I don't recognize attached to the center console. I'm guessing that it's some kind of antenna adapter. It would be nice to be able to hook it up to a normal headphone jack aux cord. It doesn't look like the other 8 pin connectors I've seen though. Any help would be appreciated.

Pretty hard to tell from the pic - may be a number of things:

1) GPS antenna
2) XM/Sirius device controller
3) (not likely) Connector for hands-free phone

Can you get any other pics?

Yup I'll put more up later. I'm also thinking about going to radio shack and asking them.

If there is a Best Buy nearby, or a place that installs car stereos, you may get better results.

Okay I'll go to best buy. For some reason I felt like radio shack would be a good place to go

It's hard to tell from the view if it is a male or female connector. I wouldn't think antenna because it seems it was put in a accessible position for the driver. It's just too hard to tell what it is from the view. I am thinking that it must be a accessory connection of some type. But, from the view it's just too hard to tell for sure.

So I'm assuming there's nothing I can do with it other than those two options?

You can follow the wire and see where it goes

I am pretty certain it's a Sirius/XM Sat antenna cable. Do you have a sat antenna somewhere on the vehicle ?
Follow the wire. Maybe an antenna under the padding on the sound bar behind passenger seat. That's the most common place.

Yep you guys called it. I had time to check it out today and it doesn't go into the center console as I thought. I followed it and the xm radio antenna is under the padding above the drivers side door.

So, guess the idea is that a PO had a portable Sirius Radio Device and he plugged it in there? Strange, I never heard of a portable one, unless maybe a Tablet has such a connection.

I guess I found it here. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_700SIRK...ood.html?tp=87

"The SC-VDOC1 car dock holds your compatible portable SIRIUS radio....."

I'm guessing it plugged into some kind of little portable satellite radio player. I don't think it runs anywhere to plug into the speakers/radio unit though, but I could be wrong. Chances are I'm gonna take it out,I don't wanna pay $15 a month for it so if anyone wants a satellite radio antenna let me know haha

They probably had an aftermarket sat radio mounted in that area. Very common. That antenna plug goes into the back of the cradle that is mounted in the vehicle. I have the same setup in my Dakota pick up. I just pull my XM Skyfi radio out of the cradle and put it in my home dock when I get in the house.
