I haven't but can't imagine it would be too hard. I built a fiberglass box in my Mustang Cobra because I didn't want to lose trunk space, so I molded it into the spare tire well.

I've never done it before so I'm trying to get ideas on how to do such a project and what size subs I should use.

Id say use a 10" sub. I removed my entire rear seats and just built a storage box/sub enclosure area out of cedar and it fit perfectly. Although I can only carry one passenger now which is not the best but I hate givin lots of people rides anyway.

if you are going to use wood make sure that you get mdf board(medium density fiberboard), it has a large effect on the sound. if you are looking for a 10" sub that has a good amount of bass i suggest mtx, or audiobahn subs. you can get them cheep in ebay along with a decent amp. i have made sub boxes before but they have all been simple sizes(squares) nothing elaborate.

I would say 2 10" they hit hard and fast, so they don't make the music sound bad. When you DO get speakers find out if you want a sealed or ported box, and the air inside the box to give you the best sound. Most ppl have boxes that sound bad because they don't have enough or have too much air.

For instance, Power Precision, or PPI requires 1 cubic foot of air inside a sealed box to sound right, and the speaker cone is approx 1/4 cubic foot, so I designed the box to have 1 1/4 cubic foot inside it for each speaker, and each speaker was sealed from the other.

If you go sealed it needs to be airtight, so you can use a silicon sealer. And for the box use a "high density" fiber board.

That's all gonna depend on the speakers, but normally yes, that will be more then enough. I ran 2 10s with an MTX 600 watts and 8 ohms.

I would have had this up sooner but it wasn't uploading. This is a VERY rough idea of how a box might go into that area. Building the box over the tire wells up against the seat would be best I would think. The wells would keep the box from bouncing and sliding. The size is however you want it to be, but this design allows you to use space to mount the amp and capacitor if you want.

This is what I have in my Jeep, takes up very little room under the back seat and it has a nice little thump.

I have an amp under my rear seat right now already hooked up to 1 10" (crappy) sub. I want to keep my back seat in and build two seprate boxes that can fit between the tub and seat over the wheel wells in the back (something like an arm rest for the rear seat). I'm trying to stear away from the bazooka tubes and things that are gonna take up that vital trunk space.

the area you are looking to put sub's does not have enough space for the sub to sound right(like rip said) you might be able to fit an 8" sub but like said before, there is not enough space. i would say to put it behind the rear seat, that is what i did. i had no trouble fitting a 10" audiobahn 1,000 watt sub. i built a costume box with the measurements suggested by audiobahn(in the owners manual it has all specs). after that i was able to mount the amp on the box.

Hello, click on this link...the sub and amp are combined and take up less space than a notebook....check it out..you will still have your full "trunk"

You can build and hang the box from the roll cage or you can make the box removable, but you need the airspace for the speakers. theres really no such thing as a small bass box,

amp just bolts on right under the seat.

12" kicker.. i will buy it clothing some day but for now its not a priority.

I use the silver stuff to cover it.. you can see anything.. does it look like there is a sub under there?

BTW if some one likes to go my route.. i'd get the 10" sub instead though.. i had to move my seat brackets forward a bit otherwise it wouldnt fit..

In my rig its hard to breathe seating in the front.. no idea about the back though since no one has ever sat there with the music up but i'd imagine it would be a lot lot worse than in the drivers seat but of course what do i care
