Decent speakers?

The speakers in my 04 TJ are sounding pretty pitiful..... Anybody know what speakers to go for?

They sound cheap also. I agree with Jma, Polk and Infinity have always given me the best bang for the buck. Shop around, sometimes you can save big $$$ on ebay or amazon for new speakers.

Amazon is a good place to find infinity, I just ordered some for the front and soundbar.

personally I have always found infinity to have more depth and clarity than polk, BUT from what I hear a lot of the polk speaker are marine quality. So if your going to do things that could potentially get your speakers wet that may be something to think about.

I have a couple of amps I am selling if anyone needs one. I am looking to sell the two that were installed by the PO and get a newer kenwood amp.

the low end infinity and polk are crap, the mid to upper end are the ones to look for. if you are good with your hands you can do what it did, i installed a set of component speakers in my sound bar.

So what are the higher end Infinity and Polk products. I've found a bunch on eBay but I'm not sure which to get.

the infinity reference is crap, the kappa and kappa perfect are great. with polk the dxi525, and mm521 are good.

Nice
although,
My first ride '99 Mercury Cougar V6 I had installed a set of MB Quart speakers components in the front an a set of coaxial in the rear, the sound was very good.
My most recent project was a 03 350z and I had Jl audio speakers installed, not a very good sounding project acoustically the design was crap.

I think I will do another MB quart setup when the time comes.

If your having a hard time, call around to local audio shops ask what speakers they have on the sound board.

Any pro installer, reputable would have a sound board with various speakers to test.

That would be your sure bet

If you can find a dealer, look into Memphis Audio. Their speakers don't handle a ton of power (as some other brand's speakers do), but they sound really good. If you can find room to mount them, regardless of brand, get components over coaxials. MUCH clearer sound.

And last, don't shop for stereo equipment online...find a store that has the stuff out where you can listen to it. I know people who swear by certain brands...and they downright sound like crap to my ears. My dad went on a bit of a stereo craze after his transplant...made the mistake of listening to reviews on some Alpine Type R 6X9s. They sound like crap...he's never been happy with them and recently swapped them out for a much cheaper, but better sounding pair of Kenwoods. Everyone is different...go actually listen to the stuff you want to install.

Maybe I'll go this route and then when I find what I think sounds good I'll look for a hood deal online. Thanks guys

The only thing with this plan: buy from your local store if they are close on price. They're providing you with a service, and if something goes wrong, they'll replace it with less hassle than online companies (if its a good store). If they're way off on price...then still make sure you're buying from an authorized dealer online...otherwise you get no warranty.

Enjoy...shopping for stereo equipment is always fun.

Like I said before, find a sound board play with it and see which ones you think you like.

Have fun

LOL! ME TOO. I once forced myself to listen to a country station here in CT (92.5) for a week to see if I can 'adjust'. Nope. Nada. And this is coming from a guy who loves NASCAR!!!!!!!!

I love my CT country music hahaha.

I also love my 6.5 inch pioneers. Crystal clear, and hard hitting bass for speakers.

I like to say the only thing good that comes from country is the women! Haha. Back to speakers though... I've heard that pioneers were nice as well.
