Decreasing road noise?

Ok, so I got a honeydo recently.

Seems the wife feels that the Jeep is too loud and she can't yap on the phone when driving it. :rolleyes

So is there any way to deaden or decrease the road noise on the Jeep? It's a 2006 TJ Rubicon 4.0 with 31" Goodyear Wrangler MT/R K. Changing tires is not an option with winter coming down the pike.

If I don't do something, she's gonna have an excuse to take over my MDX. I can't let that happen.

Thanks.

Keep the Jeep for yourself and send her to the MDX

A hardtop will help, carpet will too somewhat. Can sound deaden the hardtop/tub etc if you really want...

Won't deny it. Too many times I have had close calls because someone had a phone stuck in their ear.

Last month somone just missed hitting the front of my wife's Jeep. Had their head done in the phone, almost walked right into us.

Not taking it out on you, expressing my feelings on a topic.

As far as your initial question (no not the reason why), Wranglers are noisy. Single wall construction, no inner panels in the rear like most vehicles. Softtops make it worse.

There are sound mats you can buy. Pull the carpet back, cover the sheet metal. They are self adhesive, flexable and cutable. They'll provide some thermal insulation as well.

I have not used them so I can't say how much they will help, I just know they are available.

Is she talking on phone using the Speaker or holding it to her ear? An ear piece may help like a Bluetooth Or get your wife a hearing aid! Another option Use spray foam to fill your doors and side panels and get a hardtop. If noise is an issue she does not want to open her windows anyway!
