Diamond mounting help

Just received my diamond 2/70 meter ant.Am Mounting to a Teraflex 5/8" dia. hole.
Problem: I have an existing pl 259 coupler which is in the photo.Of course it won't go thru without widening the hole slightly, since they are the same diameter. But even if I did do that you can see in the 2nd photo when assembled (just using a sample pl259 of course) that theirs a considerable gap and would'nt have a snug fit on the teraflex bracket which is 3/16" thick, (gap is 3/8") when tightened.I could use washers but I'm sure that I'm doing this wrong and that theirs probably a better solution. Also someone also mentioned some where that drilling or sanding the coating on the mounting hole could effect the resonants or swr. This is my first portable 2 meter setup and am more experienced with HF.

Thanx in advance

You need a so-259 antenna mount, the mount will install in your bracket and the antenna will then screw into the mount.

PS. Don't mind the corrosion, didn't realize it was like that I'll have to get it cleaned up.

i have not yet implemented.. but i have one of these http://www.arizonarockyroad.com/imag...01513JEEP3.jpg and a so239 (chassis mount) i plan on soldering rg8x directly to it and screwing a diamond 2/440 antenna into it with the arizona mount in between having about 5 feet of coax other end with a pl259 to a icom 7000 mounted to the inside of a tuffy tailgate trunk. seems to be the least loss way of connecting all this

This worked out ok......I just did a solder job on it and did a continuity test.I'll look around now for a decent inexpensive SWR meter.Thanx again for your help
