Electromagnetic Pulse proof?

A friend of mine who has a 2011 Rubicon states that his Jeep is resistant to EMP, EMP is what occurs during a nuclear war or solar storms, even military has EMP bombs, was everyone aware of the solar storm from now into 2012,2013 when it peakes, power will be cut off from one hr to one year, this is according to DR. Michio Kaku,
Military vehicles have a faraday cage to protect the electronics, anyone aware if the Jeep has this? My friend asked Jeep if his 2011 Rubicon was protected and they stated it was resistant to EMP, I think that they were telling him what he wanted to hear, anyone with any input here, I am presently wrapped in tin foil, ok I am kidding about the tin foil, lol,

I thought only the 2012 was EMP proof.

Good question! Most modern vehicles post 1973 are not EMP immune since they rely on computers to mix and monitor fuel and other vehicle parts.

Now an older Jeep with a manual transmission would be the ideal survival vehicle, provided you could get fuel of course.

The Pentastar at 8,000+ rpms creates a space time bubble around itself that would protect your Jeep. Few people are brave enough to keep the revs up there.

I know this is Fox news, lol, but this scientist is supposed to be very good, some people believe that the 2012 Jeep can withstand a electromagnetic pulse? I have seen some people on youtube suggesting tin foil could save the electronics? did you watch the video?

Oh I love Michio, he is on a lot of science channels and shows. I highly doubt the Jeep or any other civilian vehicle is EMP proof. Too many electronics everywhere. Even if the cage has something in it, I don't see how it can protect the engine compartment that is sticking out in the front.

Short of building a Faraday cage inside the hood and engine compartment, there really isn't an answer for anything after 1973.

.. I just priced out some lead armor for my new Jeep to complete that 80's-The-Russians-Are-Coming feel, because I totally love bad science & doing the wrong thing listening to pundits, lead stops those damn radio waves, right? :P

A terrorist threat in North America is very real, if a radical terrorist detonated a nuclear bomb 300km in the air over North America the Electromagnetic pulse would wipe out all of the electronics in North America, it would take a long time to get computers working again, or our vehicles, I doubt that the solar storms will be strong enough to knock out all of the cars in North America, potentially a handful? Remember this is science based, not the tin foil hat group clutching out guns.... its tough typing while clutching on to my rifle, lol
