Electronic problems/shorts?

So I am pretty new here but came across this problem recently and couldn't find anything similar so just wanted to see if I could get some help. I have a 2007 Unlimited X JK. A few days ago I went to go get in the Jeep and hit the unlock button on the fob. The Jeep honked as similar to what it does when you hit the lock button. Thinking thats what I did I then hit unlock again and it went like normal. But then when I went and opened up the rear driver side door to put my child in I noticed that the radio was on and playing. Key still in my hand and door ajar. It stopped once I started it up. Now I've also noticed the last couple nights that the Jeep will randomly unlock itself out of nowhere. So I am figuring that maybe there is a short somewhere causing these odd problems. Does anyone know how to fix this or is this something that I would need to have the shop take care of. Im not too great with mechanic type stuff so if it seems like more that just replacing a fuse or something I probably would need to take it in as much as I would not want to. Any input would be great! Thanks!

Hi Oak315, mine has done the same darn thing just yesterday; however, i wasn't even certain that i hit the unlock button on the key the head lights were on and opened the driver back rear door and the radio was playing?? Also, i've noticed even without having the key in the my hand when it's in the kitchen drawer my head lights will come on and the doors will like i've hit the unlock button on the key. It's happened a view times throughout the past few weeks and can't figure out why or maybe my key is malfunctioning as the letters are all warn off the key.

UGH!!! i just called the dealer and they said no one has ever reported this issue happening before and the only way they'd be able to diagnose is to drop it off and "hope" it happens to them. Something is causing the (unlock) modules to fire and turn on, but she said she can't think or reason the why. I've had so many problems with my 07 4d rubicon, just add one more to the list. :-(

Hi Oak, well i've been digging since my last post and speaking with a co-worker and he said it's a "loose ground strap". I searched thru the list of forums and seems like the cheapest avenue to start our trouble shooting. It looks like there are two straps, one from the battery to the firewall and another to the frame? I'll look closer later.

Thanks for confirmation that im not just going crazy here! lol. Yeah let me know what ya find and i'll start looking there too now that I may have a starting point to look. Yeah the other reason I havent just taken it into the dealer as well was I figured their response would be similar and my luck it would not happen for them. Still the past couple mornings I go to the car for go to work and it's unlocked already. Odd but yeah thanks again and i'll get to checking that. Now after thinking on this I wonder if this is also the reasoning behind my Auxiliary port in the radio not working anymore. A few months ago it quit working and says just Auxiliary port not connected. Even when something is plugged into it. I wonder if this could be causing all of this possibly? Thanks

Hi, please keep me posted too. I have jeep wrangler unlimited '08. Last couple days my jeep will unlock by itself. I replace the battery to my keys but it hasn't stop the random unlocking & lights coming on. My kids think the jeep is haunted.. .
