Factory Stereo/CD player

I just bought a 2004 Wrangler and was wondering if the stock Stereo/CD player has rear rca input/outputs? I want to hook up my mp3 player. I searched some older post but i could not find anything on a 2004 model with the exception of an adapter.
Thanks,
sobz

Man if you had asked a week ago I could have turned around in my chair and told you, had my stock radio laying on the dresser for months. But I dont believe my 98 stock one had a rca plug in the back. I'll try to dig thru my box's and find it again (just got done moving).

I use the monster auto-scan FM transmitter myself, good enough sound, the bass doesn't get clipped like the 1/8" jack does, and no one ever wants to jack my radio from me; in fact, they ignore my electronics all together.

Just for the info, the stock cd player sounds like crap in front of my pioneer. I had stock and replaced it with aftermarket.. amazing difference.

Cheap and easy......

Get an FM transmitter. 10 bucks for one on eBay. Some suck from what I've read, some good. I bought a cheap one and must have gotten lucky. Works great, plugs into the 12v socket and the headphone jack. Just tune stereo to same frequency and jam all day long. No static or distortion. Big advantage is that I can use it in any one of my 5 vehicles, plus the house. The 12v converter is in my back bedroom/computer room and stereo is in living room. Works good through the walls. Just my .02.

Hehe take a pic of your FM transmitter. I bought one and i could barely hear anything and it was "mono" so it sounded horrible.

the first one is the one I use, the second is the ecksjay has. They both work well, mine only works with photo or newer ipods. you get a little static, but it's so minor that it you barely notice, especially with mine (auto scans for the least resistance station)

I use MP3 CDs so i just got a new cd player.. Stock cd player sounds bad, with some static it would sound worse.. i dont like Ipods and i'm not planning on supporting the I ripoffs. lol no offense..

hehe Ipods ARE over rated and overpriced though (agree?/disagree?)... To upload music to one you have to download half a gig of spam just to get the thing running

I love mine. And being a Mac user I had to download nothing, itunes came on my computer, organized my music, and when I hooked up my ipod it transferred it all onto it. I think your grievances are probably lodged deep within a long history of Microsoft brainwashing (I'm assuming you're using an inferior OS from MS). Don't get me wrong, windows has a place in the world, it's called autocad, beyond that you can do more with a Mac, you worry less about a Mac, and you can work faster, more efficiently and more intuitively on a Mac. Price is something of an issue, for computers it is about equal when you factor in PC setup and virus and spyware as well as the useful lifetime of the machine. ipods are well priced with the exception of the touch and the iPhone. 80gig for $250!? just an external 80 gig hard drive is $100, add a video screen and the best GUI available (plus let's not forget that america is to blame for creating the corporation, and we need to feed it's profits) I think that's one heck of a deal. When you add an FM transmitter they will work in any car regardless of make, model, or aftermarket radio. Plus they never skip.

Allow me to make one more point and I promise to get off my soap box:
Take me for example, I love good sound. I see the value of $4000 tower speakers in my living room and would love to have a set of B&W's. Car audio however will never sound good to me. You can add all the bass you want, and crank the power to the max, but the soundstage will never be true to what the artist intended due to road noise, cabin constraints and other limiting factors. I also don't want to have to worry about some punk jackin' my $200 radio I bought on a nice day with my top off. So I'll happily pay for a factory upgrade audio package for a more balanced (but still bad) sound. How do I get my music through it though? MP3 CD's won't play, regular CD's are a hassle and very bulky, but an ipod has it all on there, is easy to use, and goes in my pocket or center console... and who would steal a center console?

for the price of that adapter you could get a brand new aftermarket radio with the aux input on the front of the radio...

don't waste your time with an FM transmitter...i had a cheap $10...it sucked.

so i bought a $55 transmitter and although it was WAY better than the $10 transmitter, i'm just gonna get an aftermarket with the plug in...even the best $55 transmitter had that annoying static and if your pod moves around cuts in and out...

plug it up to the aux though and you get no static and it doesn't matter if it moves

I just wanted to add to your rant briefly. I think it is funny when people say macs cost too much money. Technical people know that the $400 laptop in best buy is not the same as the $1000 laptop from apple. Those cheapo laptops try to match on big numbers...like the cpu speed, or RAM, so it "looks" the same to the average person. There are certainly lots more hardware in the machine where corners are cut. Bottom line is Apple doesn't stuff crappy hardware in their computers. Apple's philosophy is to make a good consumer product, not make the cheapest product possible to try to undercut the competition.

This is why I think apple will be around for awhile. Those are my personal feelings :P I know its a bit off topic but its something I've been thinking about.

I have (somewhere) a 60 gig video Ipod, if I had to buy another MP3 player I prolly wouldn't buy it again. They are fine Mp3 players but their batteries blow and the video screen scratches like crazy even when you keep the thing in a protective cover. I used the video on it couple times then never bothered with it again. You can watch 1 movie and the thing is dead, plus the screen is to tiny it hurts after awhile. Sound quality is ok but their is no bass or EQ settings.

Ipod has problems that need to be fixed to be worth the price that you pay for them. The Itunes is a nice program but its more of a pain then it is helpful. Drag and drop should be a option, but of course your supposed to use Itunes to buy songs to put on it.

I have a few thousand songs on mine that I'll sooner or later make a custom jack in my dash to hook it up but it's not on the top of my list of things to do with my jeep.

I like to rag on MAC because im a PC user and have built my own PC but both have their pros and cons and are both great platforms. Things like Linux/Windows being mutated together technology changes so you cant really judge what will happen in the next few years. You can only hope and pray they will do something good. =P

I learned to build websites on a MAC and will always hate their mouses.
