Finally got around to upgrade the sound!

After living with my 2012 JKU Rubicon for a year, i bit the bullet and completely upgraded the sound system. components include:
  • Pioneer AVIC-Z150BH GPS head unit with Sirius/XM tuner and iPhone 5 connection
  • Alpine PDX-V9 5 Channel 500(4)x100(1) Amp
  • Morel Tempo 2-way for tweeters and front
  • Morel Tempo Coax in the sound bar
  • Alpine SBR-S8-4 pre loaded sub

To say "night and day" would be an understatement. With the exception of the "buggy" app mode interface of the HU and iPhone5, I couldn't be happier. Pretty amazed at the quality of the sound. One especially nice thing is that particular sub is a perfect snug fit sitting directly between the pre-installed factory sub and rear passenger seat requiring no "installation." A great balance between sound and space. I'll try and post some pix soon.

Now it's time for "volume wars" with my wife

Awesome choice.

I have my PDX-V9 and Hertz speakers standing by, get wiring today via USPS. I think I'm going SunDown sub, but haven't decided yet.

Curious where you ended up mounting PDX. I was all set to mount under driver dash, but looking briefly at this location, it appears to be a no go. I'm probably going to just mount in rear of Jeep or under Driver's seat.

Great Job

Sounds like you did it right. Most people want to just change out their speakers which doesn't really help that much. I did what you did but with different speakers and a 5 chan amp and like you said, it is night and day.

Look forward to pics. I'm just going to build a custom mounting solution out of wood and metal brackets.

Why don't we swap interior panels so I can reuse your factory sub enclosure. Haha

speaking of which, wondering if you, or anyone has a good photo of what the interior panel looks like with no sub enclosure. i'm trying to determine if the new sub will still be held tightly in place without the old sub enclosure. from the looks of it, no. of course, it's easy enough to affix it in some other way, but just curious...
