Fog Light Switch

I know the trick to get the stock fog light switch to function on low and high beams... but is there a way to make them work without the headlights being on?
I would like them to automatically turn off with the ignition but be able to be on without the headlights.

I have a wiring diagram and am going to look through it to see what I can see, just figured I would ask and see if anyone out there has done this.

So you want no taillights on either? And no parking lights I take it?

You could wire them up exactly like DRL's where they are even ran only at half power unless you turn them on. It only takes 1 relay and a little bit of your time to swap the wiring, but it's easy overall.

This may be a little hard to understand, but this is a drawing I made a while back when I turned my S10 fog lights into DRL's as well. Relay 1 in your case would be the stock fog light relay. You will still need a 12volt source that is ran through the ignition. It won't require a lot of amperage though, less than 10 easily.

No problem. it works well for me, and I modeled the concept after the stock wiring on my s10. So pretty much you need to remove 1 ground and run it to the relay to be switched, this is what changes the lights from being in parallel (fogs) or in series (DRL with half power).

I did this a much easier/simpler way, making them manually controllable as long as the ignition is on. I just snipped the wire that goes to pin 3 (12v in) and spliced it into the live wire for the adjacent cigarette lighter. The lighter only has power when the Jeep is on, so if I turn off the jeep with the fog switch ON the fogs go off.

I did use my own relay because there I had an issue with the stock fog wiring but I can't see why it wouldn't work for you just to splice that one wire.

I used this switch diagram to help me out:
