FT-2800 issues

Damn radio is pissing me off. I had it on the overhead console this summer and now the top half of all the lcd characters have faded to the point you can't read them. I took it out about a month ago hoping being in the ac the rest of summer would keep them from degrading any more, now I just have to put it back in to check. If it is still faded, anyone know how to restore them?
