Has anyone filled it with the gas cap off and it was running? If so you will have to clear the code out. At least as far as I seen before. It happened once to me before and I had dealer reset it.

I actually don't know how to reset it, just tell your dealer what happened. They shouldn't charge anything for doing it. If they do it wouldn't be much...shame on them if they do. Maybe someone on here knows how to reset it without hitting up the dealer.

It will probably turn off in its own after a few cycles of the key. Don't go to the dealer, they'll charge. Might try advanced or autozone, they might be able to clear it for free.

Yup... I have charged 83$ to tell people that they didn't have a gas cap or it was loose. I know toyotas can be cleared of codes by either disconnecting the neg lead to the battery for 1 minute or (iirc) 30 ignition cycles without a failure code being repeated (or maybe 3 dropped the MIL, 30 kicked it from memory - something like that, anyway). Most every maker is similar, with slightly different numbers.

Do nothing for a week or two and it should go away, if not sooner. Or go to the partstore and ask em real nice like to clear it.

Most parts stores won't clear them or you anymore cause they can be fined. Only the dealership, a repair shop or the owner can clear it. So you just borrow the scanner from Advance Auto and clear it yourself. It's a jacka$$ lawsuit rule. It is what it is.
