getting a cb

im getting a CB, and antennae and the cable,

what i want to know is do i have to do anyhting besides plug it all in, i heard i have to calibrate it for the short wheelbase, also along the same lines, once its in is that all i have to do or do i have to do something with the FCC (i think thats the right one or is it FAA), do i need a class?
and what about the name thingy how do get one or choose one, or am ithinking of something else?

thanks for the help im definitly a CB newb!

If I am remembering right, CB stands for "Citizen Band" meaning FREE and NO government regulations I think you make your own "call sign" if you want one Not sure bout that one.

Just grab a SWR or borrow one from a friend, preferably one who knows what he is doing with it

Citizens Band radios used to require a license which involved teh FCC making money. No tests, just send a check and get a license number. The "callin" as you called it or handle is somethin you come up with on your own. Its better when your friends give youa handle. An FAA pilots license counts as a FCC radiotelephone license as long as you fly within the borders of the US.(littel fact for ya there)
