And what will arguably be the last post in the thread.

Well, except for this one ...

Halfway through this video features a Porsche Rally car I built last year and sold to GoPro. Nice to see it is being used as intended.

We'll I got one. Just picked it up from Best Buy. GoPro HD Hero 2 Outdoor Edition. At home checking it out. I'm sure I'm gonna start flooding WF here soon with my Jeep excursion videos and they'll be in 1080p muahaha!!

Anyone on here want to trade a suction cup, lcd backpack, or other accessories for the ones that came in the Outdoor edition? I'd like to have the suction cup mount.

Nice! I just looked at them at Best Buy as well. Seems I check them out every time I am in there. And they seem to have more and more accessories every time I go in there as well. I'm sure I'll get one eventually.

Save yourself some storage space, avoid jellyvision completely, and get smoother motion by using 720p60fps. All around, the results are FAR better than 1080p IMO.

At least take some time to do some A/B comparisons. Bigger is not always better.

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll try that once my WRX is back on the road.

^ Good video bud, although I would have sped up some of the frame transitions IMO.

I really would like to get one of these as well, even if it was just for a dash cam for commutes because you never know.

Ya this is only like my third video I've edited, so still trying to figure out what works best. They are great little cameras and have unlimited mounting possibilities.

Ok so I've taken videos in every resolution with my new Hero 2 and 760p with 60frames is bar far the smoothest. 1080p looks very good too but the 30 frames vs 60 does affect it. I do like how you can choose wide, med, or narrow in 1080p mode for filming vs only wide in 760p. I'd like to put up a few videos of mine driving around mounted to my dash on the jeep but man a 760p 5mn video takes over 1hr to upload to youtube.

Do a Google search for XMedia Recode. (It's a free download.) I have it and you use it to recode your finished video file to make it smaller. It will then upload to YouTube much faster. How do you think that I got all those 30-45 min videos up on YouTube?

It goes like this:

1) Use whatever software you have (I use Windows Live movie maker) to edit your raw video footage.

2) When you finish and save the video on your PC, run it through XMedia Recode and you'll have another copy of it with a much smaller file size.

3) Upload to YouTube.

720p Med and Narrow are coming to the HD Hero2 in a future firmware update. Last I heard, they were supposed to be added when 1080p got its different FOVs, but got pushed out for some reason.

Product Comparison: HD HERO2 & HD HERO Cameras

With the wide angle lens it makes it extremely easy to take stills just point in the general direction and you'll be fine

The Hero2 (Professional) is an incremental upgrade, mostly dealing with increasing the video and photo quality. The functionality and housings are basically the same, though the Hero2 adds an input for an external mic.

While most people can see the quality difference between the Hero1 vs Hero2, it's a subtle upgrade. I'd avoid the Hero 960, but the Hero1 is a very capable, very desirable little camera.

To answer your question directly, "nothing."

Let's make sure we're using the same naming scheme. The current GoPro models are the HD Hero (original) and the HD Hero2 (professional). There's also the HD Hero 960, which isn't worth talking about.

The kit you found is the HD Hero, which as stated above, is functionally the same as the HD Hero2 with a slightly lesser quality in the output. I think it's a damn fine camera, I loved mine until I upgraded. The quality bump to the HD Hero2 was worth the extra $100(ish) to ME, but very likely not for most people.

The price you found seems quite high. This is the standard Motorsports package direct from GoPro, Best Buy has simply added a memory card to finish the job. Amazon sells the same standard kit for $85 less.
Amazon.com: GoPro HD Motorsports Hero: Camera & Photo

While this package does not include the 8GB memory card, those can be had for $8. Even Best Buy sells cards for that price, so I'm irritated that they hiked the price of the kit that high just for the inclusion of the card.

I'd order the kit from Amazon and pick up a memory card. With the price and resulting tax differences, you'd be ~$80 better off.
