Got me the ultimate in hillbilly tech!

Well since I lost my CB antenna, I need a new one. Since I dont really care much for CBs (I'm a ham radio operator, so when I need stuff that actually works half decent I use that), I got the cheapest antenna the local shop had. Which of course, happened to be one of those 102" monstrosities.

Terrible, just terrible! hahaha But it does work good. I wonder if it'll survive the trees while wheeling. As long as it doesnt bind up, it should be ok I think, we'll see. Hahaha.

Uh, I hope you don't drive on the road with that thing unless it's tied down? I would venture to say you are going to break that one pretty quick also on our tree and rock laden trails here in AZ. Wheelers sells Firesticks pretty cheap if I remember right.

Well I had it out yesterday - it's definitely there more than the firestick, but it's not bad as far as running into stuff at all. It bends out of the way pretty nicely - in fact supposedly you can give htem a pretty sharp bend and a 180* and they'll still remain in the original shape. IMO there's no tougher antenna than a steel whip - though they can be unpractical

it wouldn't hurt to have a way of securing it to your windshield. if nothing more than for eye protection for your spotter. most of the rockparks out here (east coast) won't allow you in with those for that reason. they sure do work well though!
