Help!

This may seem stupid to you seasoned CB guys, but I need some help

This is what I am working with:

Wilson Silver Load 4' antenna
TeraFlex tail light antenna mount

Cobra 25 radio
Cobra Mic

Uniden Bearcat or something 20watt speaker

Diesel Mini-8 Antenna Coax

Now. The Mini-8 connects to the radio, but is NO WHERE close, to connecting to the antenna? Do I need an adapter or something?

Also, the antenna doesn't mount onto the teraflex mount. in other words, the antenna is bigger than the Teraflex mounts hole, and there was no bolt supplied with the antenna. Do I need to get a mount, to attach the antenna to the mount? kind like when I needed an adapter for the adapter for my pontiac's radio?

Thanks guys.

Oh ya, PS. Can I still recieve without tunning the antenna? I mean, can I turn it on and listen untill I can get a hold of a SWR thing?

Sounds like you are missing the piece in the middle. Something like the "predator Mount". Coax screws to one end, the mount goes through the tail light mounting bracket, and then the antenna screws into the top of the whole thing.

I guess, I am not sure what I am missing... I bought the Teraflex mount thinking I was good to go, seeing as its a MOUNT and all....

But nope! The box only has a sticker, the metal bracket, and a bolt to screw into the tub. Thats all thats on the parts list too Should I go to the truck stop and look for a mount for my mount, or is this something that I need to order online and wait for?

I have a fold over thing in the mail from walcottcb, will that solve the issue, or does that need to bolt to this mount?

The teraflex mount is a 'mount for a mount'. You need to get a mount for the antenna.

Awesome. I went to the truck store, looking for something like what whiteYJ showed me, and I found an "Antenna Stud" that seems to work. Just got to make sure its all hooked up right I guess. If I put my external speaker in the PA spot, I can get sound (going out obviously) but on the external speaker slot, scanining 1-40 I don't hear anything? Maybe I am just not close enough to the highway? I got to run to the store and grab some 12ga wire, Ill take some pics and post a new thread what I get back.

Yes you can receive without tuning the antenna, you would probably be fine transmitting without tuning.
A stock cb only puts out 4 watts at 27mhz, that's really not enough power to cause much of a problem unless you have a direct short in your feed line. Most antennas are "tuned" to the frequency range from the factory, all you're doing when you get it is tuning for your radio and mounting scenario.
That being said, get it tuned as soon as possible.

Try listening without the external speaker and turn your squelch all the way down, you should hear static, if you don't there may be something wrong with your radio.
Also try listening to 19 when your near the truck stop, you should hear one of the monkeys yacking it up.
If not, call "break one nine for a radio check" somebody should come back to you.
