HELP CB install in console

I have the Smittybilt audio security center console for my YJ and I'm trying to install my CB radio in the audio compartment. I'm having alot of trouble getting the radio mounted. I drilled holes from the storage compartment into the audio compartment for the CB mount. If I mount the bracket first I can't get the radio connected to the bracket. If I put the radio on the mount I can't install the mount. Why is this so hard for me? Lol I feel dumb someone help

Put your mounting screws in the mount, secure with nuts. This keeps the screws in place for you. Put radio on the mount. Install the whole thing in the console. Add another nut with washer from the inside.

You might want to replace the mounting screws with bolts so a wrench can hold them from the side when tightening.

you just need o hold those mounting screws in place. Another way would be a little glue, or a piece of tape, or chewing gum.

I got it in today. I had to put the bolts in the mount before mounted the mount to the CB. Then I slid the radio in and like a miracle one bolt fell right into the hole. The second one needed a little help. Then I enlisted my 10yr old daughter and her tiny hands to help hold the bolts in place while I tightened the nuts. Still wasn't easy but we did it. Now I gotta mount the console tomorrow. ( it's gonna be coming out again next month when I rhino line the interior but whatever)

Another trick is to drill new holes in the bracket or slot the holes so the radio sits closer to the screws of the mount
