Help installing CB in my JK??

Hey guys,

I want to put a CB in my JK sport for when I am out in club runs.

I have done some reading but there is so much info and so much conflicting stuff I don't even know where to start.

I am looking at a cobra 18, will this mount well in my JK base model?

How do I know what length of cables/wire I need to purchase?

I read firestik makes good antenna? What length should I look for?

I assume the rear tire carrier bracket is the best way to mount the antenna?

How should I run the wiring? I do a lot of off roading and plan to have my top off most of the summer.
Thanks.

Cool Tech LLC has an all-in-one CB Radio kit for JK's. Includes everything you need: Cobra 75 radio, Firestik antenna, wiring, mounting plate for either the license plate bracket or spare tire and dashboard mount form the handset.

The Cobra 18 looks like a nice radio. As far as fitting, I'd look at the Cobra 19, and the Uniden 510 or 520, they are narrower and might be easier to fit.

I don't like the Cobra 75 all in one style. It makes for a big mic in you hand and without an external speaker the sound is not good.

Firestick's are popular. A 3' or 2' is fine for trail comunication and does not have clearence problems.

Antenna cable should be long enough to reach from antenna to radio with a little slop. There is no "magic" length. Too long is better than too short.

I like it for that exact fact.

Allows for a totally clean install and it has a quick disconnect so it can be kept at home the other 85% of the time I'm not out wheeling.

These are not my pictures but this is exactly what my Cool Tech All-in-one Cobra 75 setup looks like:
