hooking up AUX input?

04 x model and factory deck. Is there a way to run 3.5mm aux for iPod into the rear of my factory deck? Gotta be a way. Thanks!

Amazon.com: Scosche FM-MOD02 Universal Audio Input FM Modulator for iPod, Satellite Radio or Portable Music Player: Electronics

Basically it is the same technology as a fm transmitter for the ipod, but connects directly to the antenna cable as opposed to having to create an fm signal to be recieved by the antenna

Thanks for the link....

I was hoping somebody tried to hard line an aux jack into the deck without having to use a modulator.

Somebody had to have done a pinout and tried it at least.... hoping for a response on this... if there is one....

If it came with a CD changer there are kits you can buy that use the CD changer plug. but I'm not aware of our Jeeps having them. You could always get a new head unit with the usb control and run the cable to your glove box.

True....looking at the Alpine head unit. Im trying to make it less enticing to thieves, but at the same time, accomodate my techy wants... lol!

I will look to see if I can find the connecter for the 6 pack CD... the factory deck shows controls for it on the face... hmmm

If I can find a pinout for the connector, I may be able to hard wire something....if it has not been done yet....

Thanks again for the input (yeah... thats a pun)

After a little research, I found the iPod/iPhone adapter that uses the CD changer control of the factory deck (with certain decks being incompatible)

iCarKits - PODCH3V6 for the 2004 JEEP WRANGLER.

I also found the iSimple IS77 adapter ( another adapter like you posted above) that gives you the option of the iPod hookup as well as the 3.5mm aux input ( just have to use an RCA Y adapter to use both)

Amazon.com: Peripheral / PAC IS77 Universal iPod Dock and 3.5mm Input for FM Radios: Electronics

Thanks so much for your help... I will most likely go with the latter to give me options for the MP3 and iPod

Look at lock pick see if that will work with your specific deck. It gives an iPod cable out the back you can run into the glove box. Your three letter sales code from the bottom right of your deck would help (mine is RER)

All FM modulators suck, you will not be happy with the sound

If you end up going with a 3.5mm hookup, take a look at my thread:
Flush mount auxiliary input installed
Once you have the right adapter for your headunit, you can easily...and VERY cheaply...install a flush-mount 3.5mm aux input.
