In-cab communication gear

This seemed the appropriate forum for this topic......

Posting this on behalf of my father. We were talking Jeeps and he asked me to "look this up on that internet thing". LOL

He and my mother are in their 60s and have an '06 TJ w/ a soft top. They take a lot of road trips and complain that the noise inside makes it difficult to hear each other. To be honest I think my Dad doesn't mind so much and that it's really my mom that brought this up. To top it off, my mom is losing some hearing.

Ok, to the point....My dad is looking for something they can use to hear each other better when they're on the road. I assume they're looking for something compact and that something like airplane headgear is not what they want.

I'm thinking of something that would just go in maybe one ear and have a mic. Something like a bluetooth? They've tried using walkies w/ ear peices and having "activate on sound" turned on, but my dad says it's picks up the road/wind noise, so that idea is out.

Now, I'm thinking maybe walking with a good headset so that it dooesn't pick up the road/wind noise as much.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

In the end they'll probably end up w/ a hard top. No idea why they got a soft top. I've yet to get them to drop the top even one time.

Ha! I keep poking at my dad trying to get him to mod the jeep just a little.

I may have him talked into taking my 33s so I can get some 35s.

Look at motorcycle comm gear. They have models that connect via Bluetooth.

Airplane headsets would be pretty cool though.

Check you state vehicle code laws. Most will have laws in place for headphones/hearing protection. The law may state that you can only have 1 ear covered while driving. So headphones that cover both ears may get them a ticket.
