I don't know if it is full but it is louder and better-sounding than the Infinity amp.

77kck056 explanation direct from Kicker

Below is a direct e mail reply from Kicker in regards to the lack of bass from the Kicker amp to the infinity sub (or any other dual voice coil subwoofer). Basically chanel 7 of the Kicker now becomes a pre out for their amplified subwoofer package (mopar stage III) and chanel 8 is an e qd chanel not designed for low frequency output. This is why everybody that has bought this amplifier complains a lack of bass from the subwoofer. To fix this, you either have to buy another amplifier and hook it to the preamp chanel, then to your subwoofer or buy the Mopar / Kicker Stage III subwoofer.

I also spoke with them about possibly making a wiring harness from their amp (8 chanels) at line level output so that we could wire in two 4 chanel amplifiers and then route back to the harness going to the speakers. Keep in mind that these factory head units are flat curve eqd, basically whether you run the infinity or the kicker, bass, midrange and treble are modified within the amp and not the head unit

I am an electronic engineer for kicker, as well as a fellow 97 TJ Wrangler owner . My apologies for any difficulties in which you have encountered in trying to get your question resolved. At this time I am reviewing the system setup for the 2012 Wrangler with the infinity system. In short, our upgraded amplifier is meant to be installed with the kicker sub with the 200W amplifier as well as full range speakers, that is how the DSP in the amplifier is tuned. I know this does not help you because it sounds as if you are wanting to run your factory sub. You are correct in that only one side of your factory sub is being driven.

Please note that Channels 7 and 8 of the Infinity system are intended to be used to drive the factory sub. On the kicker system, Ch7 is intended to drive a 200W sub amplifier and Ch 8 is used to create a phantom center channel. Also our gain structure is not set up for maximum performance of the Infinity sub.
Once again I apologize on the delay in which this matter was taken care of, please feel free to contact me directly in how you would like to proceed.

Best Regards,

Do you know why only one side of the sub output works and the other donít?

To whom it may concern.

I purchased the above kicker amp from mopar and was told by your customer support that this would work in the 2012 jeep wrangler with the infinity system. Everything seems to work except one chanel for the subwoofer has no power. Basically subwoofer is a dual voice coil, but only one coil is being powered. The stock infinity amp powers both coils of the subwoofer. I also had a 77kck046 amp that I tried and it does the same thing, no power to one of the coils of the subwoofer. The nav radio in the jeep is a 730n with code RHR on the faceplate.

This is great information. Even my Kicker contact wasn't able to relay all of this in detail. Thanks for the post.

Okay, got my new non-subwoofer trim piece to replace the stock sub. So I am going to try and install the Kicker sub this weekend. When I get it done, I will post pics.

Finally got the entire Stage III installed, wow does that Kicker sub have some thump. Overall, a nice improvement.

That makes complete sense now. I wish we could have known before i wired in my Rockford Fosgate amp, i could have tried using Ch 7 as a pre-amp to it rather than splicing off the front speakers.

Did you end up using the Kicker self-amplified sub and enclosure or put a Kicker in the stock Infinity enclosure? Just curious.

I am pretty sure he used the aftermarket sub/enclosure.

Yep, used the Kicker enclosure and 200W Kicker amp. It doesn't take up as much room as I thought it would and when it is latched to the seat it is very secure (read: doesn't flop around over bumps or off road). Overall I am happy with the performance it really hits hard if you want it too, but provides nice, clean bass the rest of the time. Again, I am no audiophile, but the improvement is noticeable and the music is still clear at high volume.

I also removed the factory sub and replaced it with the non-sub trim panel, opening up a little extra cargo room. Plus the Kicker sub is easily removed when you need more cargo space or security is an issue.

Kicker is a small company

Kicker is a small company with less then 225 or so employees and mostly sold to Circuit city and auto makers while Infinity is part of a huge awesome quality products that are owned By Harmon Kardon which also has JBL etc etc....and the Mygig higher end are also made by Harmon....

Bump...because this is a very good thread that should not be lost.

I'm trying to pick a sub that will work with the stock enclosure and stock Alpine/Infinity amp (2013).

I have several on the list:
Pioneer TS-SW841D 4ohm SVC shallow mount
JL AW3v3-4 4 ohm SVC
JL AW1v2-4 4 ohm SVC
Alpine SWR-823D Type R 4 ohm DVC
Kicker 10CVR82 4 ohm DVC

Like I said, I would prefer to keep the stock amp and use the stock enclosure...so I'm hoping one of these will be a nice "drop in" sub. One question I do have....for those that have kept the stock amp but are using a new sub....how are you wiring your subs to get back to a 2 ohm load?

I don't know (or think) that the stock amp is bridgeable...but I'm not sure. Can you run a 4ohm SVC sub off the right + and left - from the stock amp? Will that work?

Thanks!

Sorry, i was out of town for a while.

As for your question about wiring. If i remember correctly, the factory amp/sub has 4 wires (2-Channels @ 2ohm each). So its already set up as a 2 ohm DVC and wired from the stock amp as VC-1 and VC-2. So I'm thinking all you have to do is connect the VC1 and VC2 plugs to the respective VC's on a 2 ohm DVC sub.

Also, the "Kicker 10CVR82 4 ohm DVC" you have up here is actually 2 ohm. The 2 at the end designates its as a 2 ohm. It would be 10CRV84 is the 4 ohm version. I run a 10CVR82 but i power it with a Rockford Fosgate PBR300x1. And i have since eliminated all of the factory audio.

I'll PM you a couple good sources for info, if you haven't already found them.

Got a 2013 JKU with the base stereo and I bought a set of 77KICK10 speakers and just came across a great deal on the 77KICK33 amp kit. I know that is for 07-10 and the 77KCK053 is for 11+ but I would like to put this into our 2013 and I have read that both kits contain the same amp, only difference is mounting hardware.

Does anyone have the new install instructions or a list of the parts in the 77KCK053 kit so I can compare it to the other? I'd like to see if I can get the parts I need or modify what I have to make it work.

Well I contacted Kicker a while back with my above situation and it took a week for a reply but they came through for me. They confirmed the configuration was the same but that I would need a new mounting bracket for the amp. And through an awesome chain of emails they have agreed to sell me just the bracket and any other little bits I may need.

I Just got off the phone with them and my order is in and needless to say I am happy how it all worked out. I may suggest to them that since the kit is indeed essentially the same that there may just be a market in selling the bracket for those who have the system in their 07-10 Jeep's looking to upgrade to something newer.
