I just wrapped up installing my IC-7000, Little Tarheel II and Comet dual band antenna in my 2000 TJ.
The install went very well thank to the ease of disassembly and access of the TJ. The coax and control cables are all nestled in the channel on top of the dash next to the windshield. The control cable for the IC-7000 comes right out of that channel to the control head, mounted on a Daystar dash tray. The power came in through the grommet on the firewall and the Turbo Tuner antenna controller is taped up inside the glove box area with 3M trim tape.
This was a very easy install! About the only difficulty was a stripped Torx head on one of the windshield mounting bolts but a screw extractor took care of that. I think I need to go to a shorty AM/FM antenna. The radio isn't delivering the full 100 watts out, probably due to it's proximity to the Tarheel. No problems on 2/440 with the Comet on the other side. The antenna mounts are from Arizona Rocky Road and are rock solid! I was expecting much thinner bent pieces. These are very thick and welded. The heavy Tarheel antenna is extremely stable on the highway. It tunes nicely on all bands from 75 to 6 with a touch of the tune button.
Here is the finished install.
